Every few years, peace activists ask the same question: what can we do to change the conversation around Israel/Palestine during the primary season? When it comes to public opinion, our views win, hands down. But when it comes to raw, naked power, supporters of Israel’s hard-line government tend to win. Maybe….
- We mount campaigns within social networking sites like MySpace that connect candidates like Barack Obama to supporters of peace and justice in the Middle East?
- We bird-dog candidates when they appear before audiences (such as AIPAC) likely to reward supporters of a hard-line Israel?
- Build alliances with Jewish peace groups to participate in education efforts aimed at Democratic Party activists?
- Work with Arab- and Muslim American groups to get their reps elected as delegates for the various candidates?
